Using Hotel Quickly for Free Hotel Stays in Southeast Asia

It’s not hard to find great quality, cheap hotels in Asia. There are 5-star hotels for $80, budget hostel dorms for $5 a night and everything else in between–you can’t really go wrong. With budget in mind you can take savings even farther by using the Hotel Quickly app which let’s you book last-minute stays at significantly discounted rates.

Right now, Hotel Quickly offers room bookings in Asia and Oceania, specifically in these countries: Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Macau, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

What I really love about the Hotel Quickly app is the credit you receive from referrals that you can end up booking essentially free stays with, similar to the Uber ride share service. You share your referral code and for every friend who signs up using your code or link, you receive one credit, which is the same as $1. For every person who signs up with your referral code AND books and completes a stay, you receive 15 Hotel Quickly credits, which is the same as $15. You really can’t go wrong here especially considering that many hotels in Southeast Asia can run from $15 to $60 a night.

I booked 4 nights at the Frangipani Hotel II in Siem Reap, Cambodia for $32 per night. On Trip Advisor they rank 84% and #116 of 323 B&Bs and Inns in Siem Reap.  I booked the entire stay through Hotel Quickly, but had to pay $15 which I believe is for taxes (it’s not quite clear on my account what the charge is for) but either way I saved $113. I thought about staying in a hostel closer to Pub Street, but most started at $12 per night for a private room with no air conditioning. So for what ended up costing me $3.75 since per night out-of-pocket, I had AC, a spacious private room, my own bathroom and shower and free breakfast every morning. Plus, the Frangipani is only a 10 minute walk from Pub Street and the Old Market so it’s still very convenient.

Booking Last Minute Hotel Deals

Up until recently (last week), you were only able to make reservations through Hotel Quickly on the day-of your prospective stay which is great especially if you’re plans are a bit loose. However, that also made things complicated if you we’re traveling all-day without access to WIFI on the day of your stay. As a solution, Hotel Quickly added an option to “Book Tomorrow” for both Android and iOS devices which still offers last minute deals.

Even though you’re booking last minute stays, you’re not limited to booking one-night stays. If the hotel has availabilities at the same rate, it may allow you too book a stay that is a few days long. In my case, I booked a four night stay through one reservation, but that is not always the case.

How to Book Stays Using Hotel Quickly

One thing I do love about the Hotel Quickly app is that if I am in a rush, all I have to do is select the hotel I want to book, confirm to process the reservation and then that’s it. It’s booked. The app securely stores your payment information so you don’t have to take your credit card out each time that you make a reservation. If you are not comfortable entering your credit card information you can also pay through PayPal.

To create an account, you first have to download the app and it works on any operating system as long as it’s a type of tablet, iPad or smart phone. However you cannot access your account or book using a computer.

After you log in, start redeeming Hotel Quickly promo codes by first selecting the Credits menu, then click on “redeem” and enter the promo codes one at a time. They will automatically be applied to your account if the promo is still valid or valid for the country that you plan to make a reservation in. Promo codes do expire, but you will be given the expiration date so there will be no last minute surprises.

By registering using a referral code you will receive $15 in Hotel Quickly credits and after you have an account you can tweet or send your friends and family an invite code to earn more credits!

Once you’ve entered the promo codes and have credits in your account, you can start browsing hotels and make reservations. Choose the country you would like to browse and then type in the city. You’ll get last-minute booking options of hotels that are offered on Hotel Quickly for that specific day.

The hotels are rated on Hotel Quickly, but you can always cross reference the reviews on Trip Advisor to see if you’re really getting a good deal and read what past guests have to say about the place. If you see that most of the hotels are already dirt cheap in the area, you may want to save your credits for a pricier location or a hotel that is just awesome in amenities like a suite with a private pool perhaps.

Once you see a hotel you like, select it and book it! It’s that easy. Your credits will be applied when you check out and if you do have to pay any taxes or a cover the price difference, it will be deducted from the credit card you have on file. If you would rather use PayPal, then you can go with that option as well.

The Hotel Quickly app is really easy to use and convenient for travel to Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Even if you are staying at very low-cost accommodations, it never hurts to “splurge” for a clean, nice room with air conditioning and a private bathroom using free credit. We know how hot it can get in Southeast Asia especially in Thailand and Cambodia so it’s a nice break from staying in a shared hostel dorm, bungalow or a room with only a ceiling fan, considering that there will be many nights traveling through the region which will call for one.
