IHG came out with its new PointBreak list on Tuesday, but if you didn’t have enough points to book a night for 5,000 points or to book a future trip at an IHG hotel, then you can still buy points for a discount with Daily Getaways deals. The Daily Getaways are deeply discounted deals that lasts for five weeks, so we’re getting into our third week of the promotion.

Daily Getaways

If you haven’t had a chance to scan the current promotional offers from Daily Getaways, then note that next week IHG points will be on sale again for 10% off if you use any American Express credit card. They first went on sale on Monday and the same deals will be available next Thursday, June 3 starting at 1 pm eastern time.

There are four IHG point packages you can buy during the Daily Getaway deals and different price points:

100,000 points for $630/$567**
50,000 points for $325/ $292**
25,000 points for $167/ $150**
15,000 points for $100/ $90**

**Using any American Express card to purchase Daily Getaways IHG Rewards points will get you an extra 10% off of your purchase, which makes it a better deal.

Let’s put those points into perspective to decide whether they’re right for you. For one, if you’re able to make reservations during the PointBreak promotion, which is going on now until July 31, then you’re able to book 3 nights for $100 if you  decide to purchase 15,000 IHG rewards points. If you purchase 25,000 IHG rewards points, then for $167 you can book 5 nights.

How much does it cost to book a regular night at an IHG hotel?

Depending on the property, time of year and location the hotel is in, the cost of your hotel will vary. A regular, non-promotional room can cost as low as 10,000 points per night at some IHG properties. IHG properties include the Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Candlewood Suites, Staybridge Suites, Hualixe Suites, and Indigo Hotels.

Here are some examples of possible savings if you redeem IHG rewards points:

Paris – Le Grand InterContinental Hotel Standard Room
50,000 points per night or $569

Redeeming Points Purchased Through Daily Getaways

If there are still hotels available on the PointBreaks list in cities that you will be traveling to, then redeeming your rewards points for 5,000 per night would be the ultimate savings. While the savings I mentioned above are decent, especially if you plan to book a couple of nights, PointBreaks are even better.

Regardless of the hotel category, location and regular nightly rate, your reservation will only cost 5,000 points as long as your stay is completed within the promotional period. So if you purchase points from Daily Getaways, you are saving much more money and points.

At 5,000 points per night this is what you can get with PointBreaks:

100,000 points: 20 nightly stays $567
50,000 points: 10 nightly says for $292
25,000 points: 5 nightly stays for $150
15,000 points: 3 nightly stays for $90

To make managing your reservations a bit more easy, you can download the IHG mobile app onto your smart phone or tablets for free. The app even lets your reserve stays using IHG rewards points and allows you to manage all of your upcoming reservations.

The Rundown

Whether you want to buy a brand new set of points or to top off points you already have, the Daily Getaways offers a great discount for purchasing IHG Rewards points if you’re purchasing them with an American Express card.

Remember, your second chance to buy IHG award points through Daily Getaways is on Thursday June 5, at 1 pm eastern time.

One of the best ways to maximize your IHG points is through the PointBreaks promotion at 5,000 points per night, that is if there are any availabilities left at the hotel you would like to stay at. But over all, even if you are redeeming your points at the regular nightly rate you’re getting a great value by saving anywhere from $44 to $277.
